In the past, Joseph has expressed concern regarding the (valid) possibility that someone someday might want to use Philo in conjunction with a model that used a non-integer primary key field. In order to handle this possibility, it is necessary to have text fields for generic relations... and text fields are represented like that in the admin. Currently, only Julian does this; rather than eliminating the feature, it might be worth considering expanding it to, for example, nodes.

Indeed, I agree, it may be worth expanding this to other models, rather than removing it.
